The Publictechnic's 5T Tree Feeder line is a gigantic metal spider that has blades for arms and spades for feet. The line has been one that has been produced for decades, and the current model is stamped with the serial-stamp of RO/5T.N1, but the droid has always been known as the "tree feeder." Publictechnic manufactures the tree feeder for large scale goverment, municipal, and corporate use, so it is difficult to purchase the droid in batches less than fifty units. The droids are fairly intellegent, but that intellegence is used toward gardening and caretaking techniques. The tree feeders care for little that occur outside there patch of cultivated territory, and the droids do become irritated with beings that may pick a blossoming T'iil flower or wanders off a flagstone pathway onto freshly clipped grass. The tree feeder moves about on six pointed limbs that are connected to a dorsally mounted support rod, and the arachnid body hanges underneath and is packed with retractable cutting and grooming tools. Sensory nodes and blinking yellow lights are arrayed around the rim of the body, while two independently mounted turrent photoreceptors can zoom in to examine insect damage on a leaf or the delicate root structure of a seedling. The droid also comes equipped with an articulated hose and an adjustable sprayer nozzle for dispensing fertilizer, organic pesticides, and water. Other tools of the tree feeder include: twin manipulator arms, a combination edger/trimmer, pruning shears, probes for testing the pH and moisture content of soil, and a specialized appendage for weeding and for plucking fruit. The Tree Feeders daily duties can be routine but can be fairly elaborate, and the droid is programmed with over one million of the most common decorative and edible plant species and will make every effort to protect its charges from harm, that includes laying down mulch bedding, and running complex pollination programs.
