While the Old Republic was expanding like mad, entire worlds became deticated to industrialized support and with that they required a constant supply of foodstuffs to sustain life. With the need thousands of worlds that could satain year-round growing seasons such as Ukio, Taannab, Saliche, and Dilonexa XXIII were now exporting billions of tons of agricultural products a year. Agribots made this all possible, since the machines were simple and there were simply programmed for tilling, planting, spraying, or harvesting they were unleashed on endless hectares of fruitful farmland. These droids were primitive and they only required a skeleton crew of biologicals to oversee them. The Corporate Sector Authority's CD-2 Harvester is one of the best agribots on the market. The CD-2 Harvester is the size of an Imperial All Terrian Armored Transport (AT-AT) Walker, and was designed to work on CSA's grainworlds like Orron III, but tens of thousands have been sold to the Galactic Empire, New Republic, and various planetary confederacies. The CD-2's strength lies in its versatility, and its name is even misleading because it is not just a "Harvester" but a total all in one farming machine. Usally the top one hundred cash crops grown on factory farms which range from tallgrain to denta beans are maintained by a crew of CD-2's. The droids move foward on a set of four enormous treaded tires, and its visual sensor suite can perceive only the grain directly infront of it and it often overlooks unexpected obstacles. The units are also designed with a remote interface to be able to shut the droid down in case of an emergency. The CD-2's three huge tilling arms are located at its front and are used to break up the soil to give the seedbed maximum aeration, moisture saturation, and root penetration. The units are also designed with a series of removable attachments which allow the droid to work as a furrower, fertilizer sprayer, or pellet dispenser for granular herbicides and insecticides, and its most impressive feature is its twenty-meter array of durasteel cutting blades. These blades harvest the grain by drawing it into an intake shaft, then it cleans and separates and bundles the grain then stories it in internal carriers for later transport to a storage silo. The chaff and other debries are then expelled through the rear discharge chutes. Some of the crops do require unique growing conditions the the CD-2 can't handle, which are usally then handled by the Hapes Consortium HD-234-C. Althought this droid is almost nearly impossible to find outside the Hapes Consortium since they like to stay exclusively to themselves.
