The world of Barab I is a dark, humid world, and is in a close orbit to the red dwarf Barab. The planet has a sixty-standard-hour rotation and is bathed in ultraviolet, gamma, and infared raditation. Durring the day any standing water is evaporated, which makes the surface very humid and hazy. The only time that animal life is active is during the cool nights, and this is the time that the haze condenses and falls to the surface as rain. The Barabel species live in underground caverns, and years ago a band of Jedi helped resolve a Barabel dispute over access to choice hunting grounds, leaving the Barabel with a deep respect for Jedi. After the Empire took control a space port was built which is called Alater-ka. After the Battle of Endor the Barabel almost went to war with the Verpine when the Verpine defaulted on a shipbuilding contract.
