The world of Bespin is the outer most planet in the Bespin System. The planet is a gas giant about 118,000 kilometers in diameter (Slightly smaller than our Planet Saturn) and it rotates every twelve standard hours. The planet is the site of the floating mining coloney Cloud City. The planet has a solid metal core that is surrounded by a thick layer of liquid rethen. The life zone is from the atmosphere to 1,000 kilometers into the planet, which is above Bespin's colorful cloud layer. The naturally occuring Tibanna gas is mined and used in hyperdrive coolant, can be found in Bespin's cloud layers and mined by beldons. Spin-sealed Tibanna gas is used in boosting the fire power of blasters. Many years ago Lord Ecclessis Figg constructed the first floating settlement of Bespin near the planet's equator. The settlements expansion eventually turned it into the vast metropolis of Cloud City. The construction materials came from the inner most planet in the Bespin System of Miser. Cloud City measures in at more than 16 kilometers in diameter and at its peak it housed nearly 5.5 million inhabitants. The highest levels are casinos and nightclubs, and the lowest levels generally have factories and production plants. The city is supported by massive repulsorlift generators. Most of the city's industrial work is handled by a large population of Ugnaughts, and the Storm Guard weather watch keeps an eye on Bespin's atmosphere from Kerros's Tower, and security is handled by the city's Wing Guard.
