The planet of Corellia is one of the planets in the Corellian System, and orbits the star Corell along with the four other habitable planets. Corellia was among one of the first planets to join the Old Republic, and the entire Corellian system and mainly Corellia is known for its fast ships, skilled traders, and pirates who regularly raid the local space lanes. The five planets of the Corellian system are often referred to as the Five Brothers, and Corellia is often referred to as the Elder Brother, and is known for its attractive surface, farms, and small towns between the rolling hills, fields, and pockets of razor grass. Corellia's life forms include the Corellian Sea Ray, and the Corellian Sand Panther, a deadly creature with poisoned claws. The Gold Beaches, the mid-sized town of Bela Vistal, and the Capital City of Coronet, which is located on the coast are some of the biggest points of interest on Corellia. Coronet unlike many other cities, has wide open spaces, because of the small buildings and trading stalls are separated by parks and plazas, and the center of the Goverment is located in the twenty-story Corona House. The Corellian species include Humans, Selonian, and Drall, mingled freely together, but with the collapse of the Empire's Centeral Authority has led to a separatist sentiment and antialien factions such as the Human League. The area known as Treasure Ship Row in Coronet, which is located adjacent to Meteor Way and Starline Avenue, was a formerly very active trading center that catered to evey species from every corner of the Galaxy, but with the Galactic Civil War and the Corelians' increassing isolation has caused a sharp decline in the trading industry, and the row is now deserted. The Selonians over thousands of years built massive tunnels under the ground of Corellia, which Archaeological excavation has just recently begun on a series of the underground chambers that date back to the pre-Republic days. Within in the ancient complex a vast planetary repulsor has been discoverd, and was once used to move the planet to its current location from an unknown location. Corellia used to be ruled by a Royal Family , but three centuries ago after Berethon e Solo introduced democracy to the system.
