The icey world of Hoth is the sixth planet in the Hoth System and is an unpopulated world that is covered with glacier fields which circles a blue-white sun. The planet is so isolated that it is not even recored on galactic starcharts. Hoth is orbited by three moons and it gets a good deal of metor activity. The average day-time tempature is -32 degress, and during the night it can plunge another good 20 to 30 degress. The tauntaun is one of Hoth's native life-forms, and the natural predator the wampa ice creature. The tauntaun's eat the green fungus that grows in cave grottoes and beneath the snow layer. Tauntaun's also cluster together in caves during Hoth's bitter cold nights to keep from freezing. The Hoth sights include spectacular frozen ice geysers and a 1,000-kilometer -long chasm in the planets southern hemisphere. The bottom of the chasm is filled with water, which is kept in liquid form because of the immense pressure of the two opposite cliff faces. Following the Battle of Yavin Luke Skywalker crashed on Hoth as he was escaping purusing TIE Fighters, and then he encountered two lifelike human replica droids, programmed to look and act like an Imperial governor and his daughter, who had been hiding on Hoth in order to escape the Galactic Empire. Later on the pirate Raskar captured Skywalker and Han Solo above Hoth, but Solo then flew the group into the chasm, where they discovered a hidden cave filled with rare lumni-spice lichens guarded by a fire-breathing dragon-slug and they barely escaped with their lives. The Rebel Alliance then three years after the Battle of Yavin established there new base of opperations Echo Base on the world of Hoth. Unfortanly for the Alliance the Empire began deploying probe droids, when one found the Alliance Base the Empire's fleet showed up with Darth Vader. General Veers lead the Imperial ground assault on the base, the Alliance personal barely escaped the base after a major ground battle. Before the Empire showed up the Alliance was having problems with Hoth anyway, they had problems adapting there equipment to the extreme tempatures and the wampa packs provided dangerous as well. Then almost eight years after the Battle of Endor a big-game expedition traveled to Hoth to hunt wampas for their very valuable pelts. The wampas being smart creatures were able to destroy the expiditions ship, and the group took shelter in the abandoned Echo Base. Luke Skywalker and Callista attempted to rescue the hunters but the entire expedition was killed by the wampas and the only surviors were Skywalker and Callista who barely escaped with their lives.
