The planet of Kessel is a reddish potato-shaped world that is located near the planets of Fwillsving and Honoghr and is the only source of the telepathy-inducing glitterstim spice and is also the former location of a brutal Imperial prison and spice mining operation that used forced labor. Kessel used to have one large moon that was the site of the city of Kessendra, but the moon was destroyed by the protype death star. Kessel's surface is covered with crumbled salt flats and atmosphere-production factories that send great jets of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide into the pinkish sky to make the air barely breathable (only when filter masks are used). Beneath the surface of Kessel is the home of the dangerous energy spiders that spin glitterstim webs as a method of catching their prey, primarly the luminous "bogey." The planet of Kessel is ajacent to the cluster of Black Holes know as the Maw, which makes navigating to the planet almost impossible.
