The planet of Teyr is located at the crossroads of three highly traveled hyperspace routes, and is thirty-four light-years from Vulvarch, and is a busy, crowded, and bureaucratic world. The Teyr Rift is a 4,000-kilometer-long canyon that is slashing across the planets face, which makes the world a popular tourist destination. The massive amount of tourists that come to Teyr has made the locals fear a huge increased imagration, so the officals of the Citizens Services Corps have created a welter of incomprehensible regulations and red tape to discourage anyone from staying once their tourist dollars have been spent. Huge orbital parking stations accomodate arriving traffic, and the Rift Skyrail, which is an increadibly fast aboveground train that connects all points in the Rift Territory with each other.
