Binders, magnacuffs, and stun cuffs are common and cost-effective prisoner restraint devices. Binders are standard durasteel cuffs that are equipped with simple mechanical locks, key-code chip readers, or identity scanners. The magnacuffs are similar to standard binders, but they are equipped with micromagnetic fields that lock and restrianing bands in place. These cuffs are normally controlled with coded data chips or common scanners that are programmed to only reconize authorized fingerprints. Stun cuffs are ones that a reserved for prisoners who are considered severe security risks. These cuffs have all the same features as binders and magnacuffs do, plus they have a remotely controlled electrical stun system. The Locris Syndicated Securities SC-401 Stun Cuffs are ones that are made of reinforced durasteel that can even contain a Wookiee's remarkable strength. The cuffs are variable-size binders that can be adjusted to accomodate a wide variety of species and automatically tightened if the prisoner tries to maneuver his or her hands out of the binders. Also if the guards wish if the prisoner countiues to strugle they could completely cut off curiculation with these cuffs. The entire system of restraints and locks on these cuffs are reinforced by channeled magnetic fields that effectively triple the strength of the durasteel its self. The interior of the of each cuff is lined with stun filaments which release paralyzing jolts of energy when they are activated via the remote. The stun cuffs are programmed with diffrent settings that range from the low-power jolt which merely causes pain, to the full-power blast which can knock a prisoner unconsicous. The remote control unit has a keypad and a small readout screen and can direct up to forty pairs of stun cuffs, and the unit is capable of a broadcast range of 50 meters. These cuffs are usally set to just stun the prisoner automatically if he or she moves more than 10 meters away from the controller. The controller unit allows the user to adjust both the intensity of the stun charge and the tension control used to determine the acceptable amount of resistance permitted from the prisoner before the cuffs tighten. The controller unit must have a seven digit code entered before the stun cuff locks can be opened, and these command codes can be reprogrammed as often as nessary. The SC-401 stun cuffs come with a price tag of 100 credits per pair, and the remote controller unit comes at a price tag of 500 credits each remote.
