During Emperor Palpatine's rise to power he campainged to eliminate the Jedi Knights from the galaxy, and one of the tools his servants used was the Universal Energy Cage. This energy cage is a sphere that is 3 meters in diameter and is reinforced with durasteel bars. This cage was designed by Umak Leth (who later designed the World Devastators) to capture the Jedi. He devised an elaborate system of overlapping superconductive coils that cloaked the containment sphere in an energy force field, which would allow the cage to effectively capture the Jedi and seal them within the cage. The force field of the cage interrupts a Jedi's ability to manipulate the force, which prevents the Jedi from moving objects outside the cage or tricking guards into releasing him. The energy field's intensity is variable and automatically increases as the Jedi applies more energy against it. So in theory it is capable of containing even the most accomplished Jedi Masters. The cage's interrior is protected with a contact shock field to prevent the Jedi from escaping and the guards can increase the shock field's intensity to fill the entire cage and knock the Jedi unconscious if he appears to pose a threat. To be able to unload and load prisoners in the cage it is equipped with additional energy projection coils and repulsorlift generators which are placed near the sliding access bars to allow the force field and the repulsorfield to be projected as much as ten meters beyond the cage's perimeter. The small repulsorlift unit on the cage give it a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. The handheld controller unit has a broadcast range of 100 meters and handles all the cages functions. The Universal Energy Cage is extremely rare and it is belived that only a handful of them were ever manufactured. | |
