Destruction

Concussion missiles are self-contained projectile weapons armed with explosive warheads, that were designed for bombing attacks in an atmosphere. The concussion missiles armored tube carries the warhead, a guidance computer, and a propellant system. The concussion missiles is protected by an exterior shield projectors wrap the missile in a protective energy shroud, that gives it an apperance of an elongated laser cannon. Concussion missiles share many advantages of the proton torpedo, by which they are unaffected by energy shields, and there warheads are very powerful, but they do have disadvantages like: they are short range weapons with an optimum range of 300 meters, and a maximum range of 700 meters. The homing sensors are outstandingly effective against stationary and slow-moving targets. Most of the time concussion missiles are fired in staggered pairs, which means that the second missile is launched a fraction of a second after the first. With this set up the first missile passes through the shield undisturbed and the blast eliminates defensive shields and armor plating while the second one impacts the same area and inflictes maximum damage on the now-vulerable target. When used in the atmosphere the concussion warheads explosion generates sonic booms and ground tremors ate close range, leveling walls, destroying equipment, and inflicting heavy casualties. In space combat concussion missiles normally are used to eliminate a capital ship's shield generators so that turbolasers can finish off the targets vessel. The Millennium Falcon carries a pair of Arakyd ST2 missile launchers, that has a magazine of four missiles. The powerful Arakyd ST2 concussion missile launcher is a big favorite of many independent ship owners, because it can be purchased for about 1,500 credits, and the missiles can be usally purchased for about 750 credits. Smaller ships like the Z-95 Headhunter use miniaturized launchers such as the Krupx MG5 with a magazine of 4 missiles. The New Republic A-Wings usally carry a pair of Dymek HM-6 launchers.
