Can Destroy Most Any Starfighter

Laser Cannons are on almost every type of starship in the galaxy and are probaly one of the most common weapons in the galaxy next too the blaster. These weapons can be found on everything from independent freighters to high-output military models used by fighters and smugglers, and also some capital ships use laser cannons to deal with starfighters. A laser cannon is similar to a blaster but is much more powerful, because the laser cannon's actuator combines high-energy blaster gas with a large power charge. The laser cannon is suppled power from the ships power generator or fed from the ships main reactor, while the blasting gas must be stored and carried in supercooled, puncture-proof chambers due to its volatile nature. Laser cannons use long barrels that have the interior wrapped with galven coils and circuits. Laser cannons are light but have a heavy rate of fire, with good stopping power when used against fighters and other light craft. Even though the laser cannons are in the icy vacum of space they still generate tremendous heat and need sophisticated cooling systems to protect the internal components. Most pilots prefer to use visual sighting (which is why most energy beams are configured to the visible light spectrum), and integrated combat computers and turret servos automatically make munute ajustments to improve fire accuracy. The New Republic's X-Wing Starfighter uses four KX9 laser cannons, which are fixed-position laser cannons that can be programmed to fire simultaneously or in alternating pairs. The KX9's barrel is designed to keep the beams focus over long distances, while the cannon produces one of the most powerful energy beams found among starfighters. The KX9 is equipped with a standard pilot interface which is a Fabritech ANq 3.6 tracking computer paired with a IN-344-B "Sightline" holographic imaging system. Han Solo's Millennium Falcon has two turrets with AG-2G quad laser batteries, which were installed by Lando Calrissian and modified by Han Solo to draw directly off the Quadex power core.
