Admiral Ackbar was the commander of the Rebel Alliance durring the assault on the second Death Star. He is a Mon Calamari from the World of Mon Calamari. The Mon Calamari became slaves of the Empire amd Admiral Ackbar was one of those slaves, durring his time as a slave he learn Imperial war tactics. While Grand Moff Tarkin was enroute to the First Death Star his transport was attacked by the Alliance, Tarkin escaped to Admiral Motti's Star Destroyer, and the Rebels took Admiral Ackbar with them. He pledged his allegence to the Alliance and went back to Mon Calamari to get his people to join the Alliances cause and fight the Empire. Ackbar also brought with him the Mon Calamari Star Cruisers which were luckury liners and were converted into military use later. After joining the Alliance Admiral Ackbar designed the Rebels newest star fighter the B-Wing which replaced the old outdated Y-Wing the new B-Wing carries enough fire power to do some major damage to any capital ship. Admiral Ackbar was first seen in Star Wars Episode 6 Return of the Jedi, the Admiral also shows up in the following Star Wars novels: Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Characters, Star Wars: Episode 6 Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Sourcebook, Strike Force, Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising: Volume 2 of the Thrawn Trilogy, The Last Command: Volume 3 of the Thrawn Trilogy, Darksaber, Dark Apprentice: Volume 2 of the Jedi Academy Trilogy.
