Darth Vader's TIE Fighter is a Sienar Fleet Systems protype for the TIE Advanced x1 Prototype. This ship was used by Darth Vader in the Battle of Yavin as his personal ship, and this was one of many prototypes produced by Sienar Fleet Systems. The TIE Advanced x1 Prototype was the most sucessful one of Sienars prototypes, and many of the refinments in the vessel was later incorporated in the TIE Interceptor and the TIE Advanced (TIE/Ad) ship dubbed the "TIE Avenger." The TIE Advanced incorporated a custom-designed spaceframe and a reinforced durasteel-alloy hull, and stronger wing attachments for the solar pannels. The vessel had a Sienar Fleet Systems (SFS) I-S3a Solar Ionization Reactor and paired with a SFS P-s5.6 twin ion engine for far more powerful drive system. The only really major advance to the ship was the speed was improved over the earlier models, but due to the added mass and the fact that a great deal of extra power was bled off to the shield generators the ship didn't move too much faster. The TIE Advanced x1 was less maneuverable than standard TIE Fighters, but the improvement was that is could take more punishment. The TIE Advanced x1 was mounted with twin heavy blaster cannons, and even though Imperial Military standards had most TIE's without any shield generators the x1 had a shield generator, and a hyperdrive, but the navigation computer could only store ten sets of jump cordinates. The x1 like many TIE's had no life support systems so the pilot had to wear a full life support suit. The x1 was only produced in limited quanites and Lord Vader recived one of the first for his own personal missions, and the rest were sent to Imperial Elete military groups for field testing. By the time of the Battle of Hoth the x1 had been deployed to a number of Imperial Navy Fleets, including Lord Vader's Star Destroyer Squadron. The x1 was never ordered in mass numbers because of the hyperdrive Imperial buricrated feared that it would slash orders for new capital ships. The Empire chose the TIE Interceptor instead of the x1 because of the compact design and the lack of a hyperdrive and shield generator, and by the time the Battle of Endor came around the x1 met it's end.
