The Coralskipper was one of the most devastating vehicles unleased on the galaxy during the invasion of the galaxy by the Yuuzhan Vong, which is the Vong's answer to the galaxies standard starfighters. The coralskipper is a living vehicle which is primarly composed of organic yorlk coral. The coralskipper is a "nursery" grown vehicle, in which each of the nurseries have massive leafie vines that grown the starfighters. These vines direct solar energy and nutrients to the coralskippers, and due to the fact that they are nusery grown no two coralskippers look alike. The coralskippers do share some features between each other though, each one has a tappered noise, dark canopy, and aerodynamic triangular body. The weapons systems onboard the coralskipper is very unique, when the pilot fires the weapon a small appendage on the front of the vehicle releases a flaming molten rock. This rock can burn through armor plating and cause irreparable damage. This same mechanism propels the starfighter. The coralskipper is both rearmed and repowered by consuming rocks, small asteroids, and stellar debries. On the front of the coralskipper is a small "dovim basal" which resembles a pulsing, invertebrate creature, even though this piece doesn't look that dangerous it is the crafts most dangerous weapon. This thing functions as a mini black hole, which creates a tremendous supergravity field when it is activated. This field can be directed at an enemy starfighter in order to overload its shield, but it can also be used by the coralskipper as its shield asborbing enemy blaster fire and proton torpedos. A major design flaw to the coralskipper is that it does not perform well in gravity and is mainly used for short range space travel, due to this the coralskipper has to rely on massive carrier ships. The coralskipper pilots actually communicate directly with their ships via special masks called "cognition hoods", these hoods are actually part of the coralskipper and understand the Yuuzon Vong speak and tongue. | |
